Spending Limits
Vectorize provides an overages spending limit feature to help you manage your organization's usage costs. This feature allows you to set a maximum monthly spending threshold for usage beyond what's included in your plan.
Understanding Overages Spending Limits
The overages spending limit is a cap on the amount your organization can spend on usage beyond what's included in your paid plan. When you set a spending limit, you're establishing a maximum budget for your overages.
Key benefits of spending limits:
Prevent unexpected charges
Control costs across your organization
Ensure predictable billing
Availability
The overages spending limit feature is available for:
Paid serverless plans (Starter and Pro)
Organizations with the spending limit feature enabled
Free plans do not have access to this feature as they operate on a quota system rather than a billing system.
Setting Up a Spending Limit
When you upgrade to a paid plan you will have the option to enable the spending limit. If you choose not to enable it then the spending limit will be disabled and you will be billed for any overages.
To update the spending limit for your organization outside of updgrading your plan:
Navigate to Organization Settings in the Vectorize dashboard
Select the Billing tab
Enter your desired limit amount ($1 minimum)
Click Save to apply the changes
You can also disable the spending limit at any time by clicking Disable Limit.
How Spending Limits Work
When you set a spending limit:
Vectorize tracks your usage beyond what's included in your plan
Overages are calculated based on your actual usage
If your overages reach your spending limit, your services will be suspended until the next billing cycle or until you increase your limit
Overage Calculation
Overages are calculated based on your plan and can be viewed by navigating to Organization Settings > Billing and clicking on the View plan options button.
The spending limit is only applied to the overages portion of your bill. The base plan cost is not included in the spending limit calculation.
Service Suspension
When your organization reaches its spending limit:
Your services will be automatically suspended
You will no longer be able to process new documents or make retrievals
Existing data remains intact and accessible once service is restored
To restore service:
Navigate to Organization Settings > Billing
Increase your spending limit or upgrade your plan
Services will be automatically restored
Viewing Current Overages
The Overages Spending Limit section displays your current estimated overages for the billing period. This helps you monitor your usage and make informed decisions about your spending limit. This may be inacurate if you have recently changed your plan. For a more detailed breakdown of your usage, navigate to Organization Settings > Usage.
Best Practices
Start Conservative: Begin with a lower spending limit and adjust upward as needed
Monitor Usage: Regularly check your current estimated overages
Adjust Proactively: Increase your limit before reaching it if you anticipate higher usage
Review Usage Patterns: Analyze your usage to determine the appropriate spending limit for your organization
